Various shades of brown veritcal vinyl siding. Properly adjusted for wall heights with matching specular and normals. I supposed if I am going to randomly blog about food then I should have a picture to go with it. It took place at a Cracker Barrel a few years ago. It was good, but it is simply not one of those meals that I would crave. Regardless, I wanted to try and make it for Justin. I began to research some recipes because I was determined to make it in my crock pot. I was feeling lazy. Another point of trouble can be the ring's locating pin, and if you encounter difficulties with locating pins working loose, the source of the trouble nearly always will be in the exhaust port. Making the port opening oval and chamfering its edges will prevent the ring from snagging, as these things ease the ring back into its groove as the piston sweeps back upward. Then the ring is free to rotate, and it quickly works its way around to catch the end in a port. Touring engines, which have much narrower exhaust port windows and thus treat their rings more gently, usually benefit from having their two rings' end-gaps placed more nearly on opposite sides of the piston, as described before. In some racing applications, the standard rings are adequate to the engine speeds anticipated, but overall performance may dictate a much wider-than stock exhaust port.

Then, the “offset” ring-locating pin may prove prone to precisely the sort of loosening and subsequent failure described in the preceding paragraph, which will lead you into a piston modification that can be very tricky: installing a new locating pin in the back of the ring groove.

This gets tricky because in many cases the pin will be half-in, half above, the ring groove and it is impossible to drill the hole for a new location after the groove is machined.

Impossible, unless you cut a small piece of aluminum to exactly fit the ring groove, filling it flush, in which case you drill your hole half in the piston and half in the filler piece.

From Chief Executive. Knock knock. I open the shop door this evening and my nose is greeted with the smell of old car parts and grease. My neighbor Sam is holding part of the kingpin assembly of one of his ancient Studebakers up to my nose so I can look at it. He explains the evenings challenge after I invite him in. Some of the environmental dogma being taught in schools is also on par with this stuff. While teaching a fundamentalist version of the origin of life is indeed taking a side in a religious dispute, teaching a conventional account of biology and geology is is also taking a side in that dispute, just the opposite side. I do not see how I can honestly tell a fundamentalist that it is a violation of the separation of church and state to teach children that his religious beliefs are true but not a violation to teach children that they are false. The conventional view is, in this case, the one I believe is true. But then, if they were teaching creationism, they would be taking the side he believes is true. So what purports to be separation of church and state ends up as the opposite—the state supporting a particular view of religious questions. Friend Art, who lives in Terlingua, TX, actually indirectly got some land out of that. While it was desert out there, it could support cattle, so long as the rancher did his part to put in guzzlers and windmill-fed stock tanks.

But water catchments don't work when it stops raining, and even springs and wells will dry up, when there's no water trickling down to the groundwater.

The ranch fell on hard times, and the land was subdivided and sold off in parcels. Art bought some of it back when the original buyers subdivided again and sold it again, and then again bought some when the descendants of the original buyers sold off what seemed to them to be a questionable inheritance. My wife has twice been down there in that desert country with me, and she refers to it as a "mudhole. Have you seen Bill Whittle's video? In it, he presents a very concise and fact-filled response to Jon Stewart's assertion that Truman was a war criminal for having bombed Japanese cities. I had visited his blog, Eject! Eject! Eject! before. But I'd never heard him speak. Not bad. Good for him. Labels: History, in the news, military intervention, war, world view. Well, I was hoping my post from last night would pop back up. Lying bastiches. I'll probably put it back up later. The problem seems to first be notable when I can't get the cursor to pop up in the Title field, but that may just be a coincidence. I guess I'll go back to belt and suspenders, again. Lost our last one. We think we know where he went. Must be perfectly certain that he is right. Not just right, but rightly Right. Experience in hucksterism and demagoguery helpful. I've had a busy weekend and will get back on later this afternoon to update this with links and such. sorry! It dawned on me at the last minute that I hadn't scheduled this post. so I'm in sort of a rush now! yikes! So here goes my card for this beautiful Sunday morning. The image is from Stampavie, the artist is Tina Wenke. Ah, Greenpeace. Founded in my home town. Yep, I'm mighty proud.

except for this fine blog entry by "Gene from Greenpeace India:" Will the Real ClimateGate Please Stand Up? Here is an excerpt:Emerging battle-bruised from the disaster zone of Copenhagen, but ever-hopeful, a rider on horseback brought news of darkness and light: "The politicians have failed. Now it's up to us. We must break the law to make the laws we need: laws that are supposed to protect society, and protect our future. The reality of accelerated dealership closures in the U. S. I'm sure you know this one. The easiest cake of all time. I think this is the third time I've made one. Ben asked for this cake for his third and fourth birthdays! Now it's Andy's turn. So easy to make. We stuck the wheels on with icing, and used fruit sticks to hold the carriages together. How to blow out candles when you're recovering from the flu so you don't give it to everyone else: don't blow all over the cake. It takes away the idols I refused to give up. It exposes the lie of my self-sufficiency. It brings me to my knees at the foot of the cross. It teaches me, once again, to bear my cross for the One who died for me. I've seen this dynamic in my own life. We got there daily. But it isn't easy. I was tagged by the lovely Meredith for this meme. Sitting in a cafe all on my own, sipping a mug of spiced chai latte, and writing in my journal. Going out for morning tea or dinner with my husband and talking about how we're really going. Having a day off and spending it with my kids. He's finally grown into the poem he loves:When I was One,I had just begun. When I was Two,I was nearly new. When I was Three,I was hardly Me. When I was Four,I was not much more. When I was Five,I was just alive. But now I am Six, I'm as clever as clever. So I think I'll be six now for ever and ever. I was reciting this poem to Thomas as we walked through a park during our recent holiday, and he looked up at me and said, "That poem reminds me of happiness, Mummy. In some ways, this is a worked example of how to apply the principles in Tim Chester's book You Can Change, so if you're reading Nicole's posts on this book, you might enjoy seeing how it applies to a specific situation. I'll start with the scenario I was given:Head in the sand – Responding when someone ignores the bad thingsTamar hates conflict. She seems to thrive on affirmation from others and consequently, many of her responses and reactions seem to be tailored to please the audience rather than to express her own opinion. When given any criticism, no matter how constructive, Tamar tries to sidestep the issue while avoiding conflict at all cost. This has created difficulty in the past as it tends to mean that Tamar doesn’t learn from her mistakes, but rather tries to ignore them. The recipe is from her favourite cookbook, Kids' Cooking, an excellent collection of meals that are fun to prepare and actually taste good!I'm determined to send our children into the world prepared to look after themselves. It's hard enough adjusting to the responsibilities of adulthood without the necessary skills. And I've heard you have to start boys early if you want them to wash their clothes as young adults. They also do a cooking task. Adam and Eve, before this, knew no significance to being naked. There was nothing shocking or shameful about their natural state. The first couple not only knew no shame but walking around naked was not remarkable at all. Sin might make a person more knowledgeable, even though it won’t make them wiser until they suffer its dreadful consequences. Then God requires an honest answer from Adam, which He does not get. Paul is in prison when he writes, saying that Christ is not only the reason for his imprisonment but ultimately the one keeping him in prison. He is there by Christ’s will for the Gentiles. That’s us. Paul did not heed the warnings of the Holy Spirit which told him not to go to Jerusalem.

Here is referring to blowing your own horn and thinking of yourself more than you are.

It also refers to thinking evil, malicious thoughts. The Proverb says that the smartest move in these cases is to shut up. The specific literal reference here for the Hebrew goes back to the previous verses when in the presence of a king. You will do well in the presence of a king not to exalt yourself or speak evil thoughts. It is best to just keep your trap shut. Let the prince lift you up if you have any merit to him. Be humble, not arrogant, when standing in the presence of power. So, I’ll leave the brilliant expositors of the future to their works and try to do what I have always been trying to do here and bring some practical understanding of how this can be applied to the Christian today. Read it again.

Fictitious Feasts is an article about the photographer Charles Roux' recreations of meals from books.

For example, the photo at the top of the post is his vision of the dining room table from We Have Always Lived in The Castle by Shirley Jackson.

I read the Jackson book a couple of years ago, and it has stuck with me.

I think it makes a good read for October. I'm not much a fan of feasts the way most people define the term, so this was my "feast" one night: There was black coffee in that cup and a horror movie ready for me to watch while I sup. I'm easy to please. Now that October is over I'll be watching far fewer horror movies. I'm ready for a change. The moths pictured below have nothing to do with the film, but they stayed on the patio door the whole time we were watching Coraline, and we thought they added a whole 'nother dimension of creepy to the experience. I can't get over how creepy this movie is. It's rated PG. I wasn't expecting it to be so very creepy. I liked the movie, I did, but it was unexpectedly creepy in very creepy ways. Hello folks! Here is a review of our last party, written by one of our guest Nobby:It may have been party number three for Bottoms Up but it was my first visit, with the usual nerves that go with such occasions. These disappeared rapidly though as I met the hosts, Leia and Danny, the eleven other guys-who were really friendly-and spent half an hour drinking bubbly and chatting to them and to the other girls. Unlike the ‘conveyor-belt’ parties I’ve heard so much about, this was a relaxed affair with each girl seeking out their next spanker, telling him cheekily that she needed him to punish her and leading him by the hand to select his ‘weapon of choice’ from the vast selection available. Hello folks! Yes, I am back to my naughty acts with the ladies at Northern Spanking. This time it is with NEW GIRL Aleehsa Fox, who is SERIOUSLY hot. just feast your eyes on the piccies I have here for you. “For, as I have often told you before and now say again even with tears, many live as enemies of the cross of Christ. Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame. Their mind is on earthly things. But our citizenship is in heaven.

And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.

I told them that it is not the Roman custom to hand over any man before he has faced his accusers and has had an opportunity to defend himself against their charges. When they came here with me, I did not delay the case, but convened the court the next day and ordered the man to be brought in. When his accusers got up to speak, they did not charge him with any of the crimes I had expected. Instead, they had some points of dispute with him about their own religion and about a dead man named Jesus who Paul claimed was alive. When Paul made his appeal to be held over for the Emperor's decision, I ordered him held until I could send him to Caesar. Even if we never state it we should recognize at least to ourselves that this man is not a Christian. He did not understand the things of the Spirit of God. Why not? He did not have the Spirit of God.

He was brilliant but blind.

This was the second week of my second taper. Honestly, I mainly ran the Turkey Trot because of the work trip - I would have preferred to stick with a Tuesday/Friday workout schedule, rather than race that close to CIM.

"I still haven't had a hit from Kazakhstan yet. Maybe Borat is too busy to read my blog"Last week my blog achieved a major milestone. I keep a close eye on my blog stats every week. I still haven't had a hit from Kazakhstan yet. Maybe Borat is too busy to read my blog.
